Zealand Pharma announces Boehringer Ingelheim’s survodutide achieves up to 13.1% weight loss in new Phase III trial, alongside significant improvements in glycemic control in people with obesity and type 2 diabetes

Boehringer Ingelheim reported positive Phase III SYNCHRONIZE-2 trial results for survodutide, a glucagon/GLP-1 receptor dual agonist, showing up to 13.1% weight loss versus 3.1% for placebo in adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes after 76 weeks. The drug also demonstrated significant improvements in glycemic control with HbA1c reduction of up to 1.21%, waist circumference reduction, and improved insulin sensitivity. Results were presented at EASD 2026 and published in The New England Journal of Medicine.
