Following a U.S.-Iran deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Jotun Tamura, head of Mitsui OSK Lines (world's largest tanker owner), warns that shipping operators will need proof the agreement is working before resuming normal traffic through the critical waterway. He estimates it could take at least two weeks for traffic to normalize. The strait handles over one-fifth of global crude oil supply, and approximately 135 ships previously passed through before the conflict.
