Theriva Biologics announced the publication of Phase 2b VIRAGE trial results in Nature Medicine, showing that VCN-01 (zabilugene almadenorepvec) combined with standard chemotherapy improved overall survival, progression-free survival, and response duration in metastatic pancreatic cancer patients compared to chemotherapy alone. The company is now conducting the VIRAGE2 Phase 2a trial to evaluate more frequent dosing of VCN-01, with initial data expected in Q3 2027. VCN-01 has received orphan drug and rare pediatric disease designations.
