Tesla is expanding its Cybercab robotaxi operations to Dallas in November and has been authorized to operate up to 5,000 autonomous vehicles in Las Vegas. The key metric for investor confidence is Tesla's target of reducing robotaxi operating costs to $0.30 per paid mile. If achieved alongside $0.40 per mile fares and strong utilization, a fleet of 1 million robotaxis could theoretically generate $5 billion in annual contribution before taxes. Management expects robotaxis to make a noticeable financial contribution starting in Q2 2027.
