Tesla and Other Electric Vehicle Companies Begin Massive China Recall

Nine automakers, including Tesla, are recalling over 4 million vehicles in China due to safety concerns with electric door handles that may be difficult to locate and use during emergencies. Tesla accounts for nearly 3 million of the recalled vehicles across its Model 3, Y, S, and X. Chinese regulators are responding to past incidents where door handle failures prevented occupants from escaping vehicles. The companies plan to add warning labels and implement software updates as interim measures, with China banning concealed door handles starting in 2027.
