Physicians and Patients Agree Lupus Care Is Improving, But Both Say Meaningful Gaps Remain

Despite expanding biologic adoption and evolving treatment strategies for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), research from Spherix Global Insights reveals substantial unmet need remains. While rheumatologists are advancing treatment strategies and increasing biologic utilization, nearly 80% of patients report moderate-to-severe disease with persistent symptoms and frequent flares. Approximately one-third of biologic-treated patients achieve only partial disease control. Recent approvals like Saphnelo® (anifrolumab) and anticipated approvals like Gazyva® (obinutuzumab) for non-renal SLE are expected to expand treatment options.
