Pfizer's berobenatide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist anti-obesity drug, demonstrated comparable weight-loss results (15.9% at 32 weeks) to competitors but with a key advantage: monthly injections instead of weekly ones. With 10 trials in or entering phase 3 and 20+ anti-obesity treatments in development, Pfizer is positioning itself as a serious competitor to market leaders Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk. However, significant revenue contributions won't materialize until 2029, and increased competition will likely erode pricing power for existing weight-loss drugs.
