Origin Agritech Establishes R&D Center in Guizhou with Biotech Unit and State-Backed Seed Joint Venture

Origin Agritech unveiled its Southwest R&D Center in Guizhou Province, anchored by wholly-owned Guizhou Origin Biotechnology and a 25%-held joint venture with state-owned Guizhou Modern Seed Industry Group. The 8,000-square-meter complex features advanced biotech platforms for molecular breeding, genetic transformation, and doubled haploid breeding across 11 crops, with over 10,000 corn germplasm accessions already in field trials. The partnership leverages Origin's biotechnology capabilities with the joint venture's 300+ distributor network to target the underserved premium seed market in China's mountainous Southwest region.
