Opus Genetics Completes Dosing in Cohort 2 of Phase 1/2 Clinical Trial of OPGx-BEST1 Gene Therapy for Inherited Retinal Diseases

Opus Genetics announced completion of dosing in Cohort 2 of its BIRD-1 Phase 1/2 clinical trial for OPGx-BEST1, a gene therapy for BEST1-related retinal diseases. The higher-dose cohort enrolled 11 participants (exceeding the target of 5) at 4.5 × 10⁹ vg/eye. Topline three-month data is expected in Q1 2027, with potential Phase 3 pivotal trial dosing anticipated in H2 2027. Cohort 1 showed favorable safety and clinically meaningful improvements in visual function across all five participants.
