New study examines real-world switching patterns after patients transition from Humira to biosimilars

A study of nearly 68,000 patients found that adalimumab biosimilar adoption increased substantially following formulary changes in the US, with 17.7% of patients switching from originator Humira to biosimilars. However, 16% of those who switched subsequently returned to the originator product. Older adults, women, and patients with ankylosing spondylitis were more likely to switch back.
