Muskrat Dam First Nation Energized by Wataynikaneyap Power

Wataynikaneyap Power announced the energization of Muskrat Dam First Nation on April 9, 2026, connecting the remote Ontario community to the provincial power grid and eliminating its reliance on diesel generators. This marks the 16th community connected under the project, which is majority-owned by 24 First Nations in partnership with Fortis Inc. The grid connection enables the community to redirect diesel transportation costs toward infrastructure development and growth initiatives.
