Retired Army Captain Michael Curtis Broughton has published a new book proposing an automated indoor container terminal system for seaports. The blueprint advocates replacing traditional outdoor container stacking with Amazon and Walmart-style automated storage and retrieval systems, claiming to achieve 66.2% increase in container velocity, 75% reduction in land footprint, and 75.3% cut in carbon emissions.
