Google is launching a Multi-Party Compute (MPC) crypto custody platform targeting institutional clients concerned about cybersecurity, positioning quantum computing threats to Bitcoin as a key selling point. However, the service won't actually protect against quantum attacks at launch, and quantum computers powerful enough to threaten Bitcoin encryption are likely years away. The quantum security pitch appears premature given the product's current capabilities.
