Google Just Went All in on Its Deal With Intel

Alphabet has placed a major order for 3 million Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) with Intel to be delivered through 2028, signaling confidence in Intel's chip manufacturing capabilities and reducing reliance on TSMC. This move reflects Google's strategy to diversify its AI chip supply and avoid bottlenecks, while the company's new specialized TPU architectures (8t for training, 8i for inference) deliver 2-4x faster performance at 30% lower costs. Google's backlog has nearly doubled to $460 billion, and the company is now selling TPUs to select external customers, expanding its addressable market.
