Fortrea has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Worldwide Clinical Trials' Early Phase Services division for approximately $45 million in cash. The acquisition includes a GLP-compliant bioanalytical laboratory in Austin, a 200-bed clinical pharmacology unit in San Antonio, and a biological sample storage facility in Pflugerville, Texas. This strategic move strengthens Fortrea's end-to-end clinical development platform and early-stage capabilities, while allowing Worldwide to focus on its rapidly growing late-stage development business in oncology, neuroscience, internal medicine, and rare diseases.
