AvePoint Research Reveals AI Visibility Gaps Have Nearly Tripled as AI Agents Scale and Almost Half of Enterprise Employees Now Rely on Agents Daily or Weekly

AvePoint's third annual State of AI Report reveals critical governance gaps in enterprise AI adoption. Visibility gaps for unsanctioned AI tools have nearly tripled to 17.6%, while 21.1% of organizations lack visibility into AI agent usage. Despite 82.7% of organizations expressing confidence in preventing unauthorized data access, 72% of confident organizations experienced unauthorized access incidents in the past year. Nearly 90% of organizations delayed AI deployments by six months due to security concerns, and 88.4% experienced at least one AI agent-related security breach. The report emphasizes that organizations need a 'trust layer' of visibility, governance, and enforceable control to safely scale AI.
