Anduril Isn't the Only Private Defense Contractor Building Advanced Air Force Drones

The U.S. Air Force is pursuing a $5 billion contract for 500 Massed Modular Aircraft (MMA) drones to supplement its Collaborative Combat Aircraft program by 2032. These reconnaissance-and-strike drones aim to cost $10 million each, half the price of current MQ-9A Reaper drones. General Atomics and Swarm Aero are among the companies competing for contracts, with the Air Force planning a multi-contractor approach and potentially awarding much larger production contracts in future years.
