Ripple received preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license in Luxembourg under the EU's Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation, along with an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license. This allows Ripple to operate across 30 European Economic Area countries. With only ~210 of 1,200+ pre-MiCA operators converting to full compliance by the July 1 deadline, Ripple becomes one of the largest remaining competitors. The approval creates opportunities for Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin to capture market share, particularly as Tether's USDT is shut out of regulated EU venues. However, value accrual to XRP token holders may be modest and slow.
